Our Legacy

Serving Utah families with compassion and care since 1885. A family-owned tradition of excellence in cemetery services for 140 years.

Larkin Memorial and Mortuary's founders. A family owned and operated business since 1885!

Our Founders

George William Larkin

Larkin's pioneer founder, George William Larkin, arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in 1863, having emigrated from Cambridge, England. His first jobs were to cut stones for the Salt Lake Temple and to ride Pony Express. Later Brigham Young sent him to oversee the Ogden cemetery. In 1885 George William began the Larkin tradition of arranging funerals in Ogden.

Continuing the Legacy

Larkin Memorial continues on the great legacy of George William. Larkin Sunset Lawn and Larkin Sunset Gardens were acquired by the Larkin family in 1982. Larkin Mortuary branched into the cemetery business in the 1980s to ensure that each aspect of funerals was properly taken care of for the families it serves.
